"I am not
afraid... interprets a Berio electronic score, which uses stereo
extensively, as part of the composition.
The images
are synchronised to both the left and right ear. Watching the
film reveals more detail and structure within the music.
The film uses
hand drawn animation on 8mm film, which was projected, re-filmed
on 8mm, using an adapted lens device and edited on computer.
The title
is from Berio's last interview in 2003, and is intended not have
a closing quotation mark, as the full quote is closed as the end
of the film. The film and the music become a part of the meaning
and expression of the quotation.
